The role of Small-Scale Reservoir Owners in Reservoir Safety Reform

Small-scale reservoir owners play an important role in shaping ongoing Reservoir Safety Reform. The Small-Scale Reservoir Owners Group was established to ensure owners’ voices are heard, provide a forum for shared concerns, and support involvement across all sectors. Over the past year, the volunteer group has contributed to key workshops on incident learning, Reservoir Safety Management Plans, and access to Panel Engineers, helping inform future policy and guidance.

Representation has also strengthened, with six volunteer representatives now participating in high-level engagement meetings to reflect the experiences of small-scale owners. If you’re a single reservoir owner or involved in small-scale reservoir management and would like to take part in upcoming workshops and engagement opportunities, you can join the volunteer group.
