Request for Technical Questions to be included in the program of the 29th ICOLD Congress in Madrid, Spain, in 2028
Every three years at the ICOLD congress, the themes of the presentations are informed by ‘Technical Questions’ submitted by National Committees and ICOLD Technical Committees. As the UK National Committee, the British Dam Society can put forward questions for consideration and this gives us the opportunity to invite papers and presentations from the global dam community on topics which are of particular interest to our industry in the UK. The proposed topics should address the current concerns of dam engineers and deal with a specific and clearly defined subject. As an example, the questions from the recent China Congress were “Dams and reservoirs for climate change adaptation”, “Dams and levees fit for the future”, “Safety of dams and levees facing extreme hydrological events” and “Earthquake performance and safety of dams”. If you would like to propose any questions for consideration, or if you have any queries, please email: bds@ice.org.uk
The deadline for submission is Friday 19th December 2025.
