28th ICOLD Congress and 93rd Annual Meeting - Chengdu, China, 15th to 23rd May 2025 

Chengdu in China will be hosting the 28th ICOLD Congress and 93rd Annual Meeting in May 2025. The date to for submissions has been extended to 31 January 2025. The guidelines on paper preparation and submission can be found at www.icold-cigb2025.com. This event would represent an excellent opportunity to present a paper in one of the countries currently at the forefront of dam construction.  

Reports submitted by Technical Committees to the 93rd General Assembly, Chengdu, China:

Technical Committee G on the Environment has submitted a paper on “INTEGRATING DAMS WITH THE ENVIRONMENT Case Studies involving planning, construction and operation of dams demonstrating environmental and socio-economic benefits” The paper is available on the ICOLD website in the “MEMBERS SECTIONS”. The link is located in “Circ. 2035”. Feedback to TC-G is requested by 6th January 2025 and BDS members are invited to contribute. 

Assistance requested by Technical Committee M

ICOLD Technical Committee M on Operation, Maintenance & Rehabilitation of Dams has requested assistance from UK members in drafting their Bulletin on ‘Lessons from Dam Rehabilitation Projects’. There is a short online questionnaire which should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. The questionnaire can be found here. For those members who would like to offer their support, we request that the questionnaire be completed before 23 December 2024.

Note: Members of BDS are automatically members of ICOLD, as BDS forms the UK section of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD).  Technical bulletins and other documents can be found on the ICOLD website, following registration.
