CALL FOR PAPERS

Managing Risks for Dams and Reservoirs

To be held at:

Keele University

On

Wednesday 11th September to Saturday 14th September 2024

 

At the 2024 conference the BDS wishes to reflect on how in recent years the industry has refocused to better understanding the risks associated with our dams and reservoirs and also try to understand the impacts climate change will have on the industry in future. 

Papers are invited to cover examples of and developments in the following topics:

  • Risk assessments – research, case studies and guidance
  • Reducing risks - mitigations/improvements
  • Risks and impacts associated with climate change 
  • Service reservoirs and small raised reservoirs 
  • Legislation and guidance 
  • Developments of Reservoir Safety Management Plans (RSMP)

In addition to the traditional synopses the BDS would also welcome any proposals for workshop ideas, as following the success of the previous conferences the BDS would like to continue to include workshops as part of the main conference programme

Authors are invited to submit their synopses (for either a technical paper or workshop proposal) of not more than 250 words to Andrew Thompson, the BDS Honorary Technical Secretary, by e-mail (hontechsec@britishdams.org). Information should include 

  • the provisional title of the paper or workshop, 
  • 250 word synopsis, 
  • Author’s name, telephone and e-mail address.  

Receipt of your synopsis will be acknowledged.

Synopses should be submitted by 28th January 2024

Authors will be informed of whether their synopsis has been accepted by the end of January 2024. 

Completed papers will be required by 6th May 2024

All accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings
