SE Forum Details

Outline Programme

The Supervising Engineers' Forum will be held on Thursday 12th September 2019 at the National Conference Centre, Solihull near Birmingham.

The Forum is made up of four sessions with each session comprising four, 15 minute long presentations. The presentations will run directly after each other and will be followed by a 15 minute Q and A.
The outline Agenda for the Forum is:

  • Attendance Registration will be 9:00 – 9:45am (Trafalgar Suite),
  • Welcome by BDS Chair,
  • Session 1 - Application of Legislation and use of Recent Guides,
  • Morning Break,
  • Session 2 – Assessment, Monitoring, Maintenance and Repairs,
  • Lunch,
  • Session 3 – Incidents and Lessons Learned,
  • Session 4 – Panel Application Process, First Time and Re-appointments,
  • Closing remarks,
  • Scheduled finish 4pm.

Electronic copies of all presentations will be provided to attendees. On completion of the Forum the presentations will be uploaded to the BDS website for future reference.

Forum fee payments can be made by:
  • BACS (preferred),
  • credit card/ PayPal,
  • cheque

Full payment is required within 7 days of registration. A single payment for multiple bookings can be made within the same timeframe.

The final closing date for registration is Friday 30th August 2019. Registrations after this date cannot be accepted.

Left Luggage

There are limited storage facilities at the venue. Any luggage to be left will need to be handed over at the Forum registration area on arrival and collected at the end of the event

Refreshment Break and Lunch

A morning refreshment break will be taken in the Trafalgar suite between Session 1 and 2. A hot buffet lunch will be served in the Trafalgar Suite between Session 2 and 3.
There will be a chance to meet exhibitors during the breaks.

It will be possible to gain entry to the adjacent National Motorcycle Museum’s display area during the lunch break at a discounted rate of £2.50/person. Please show your delegate pass on entry.

Smoking Policy

All internal areas within the NCC operate a no smoking policy


Car: The venue is located off the M42, junction 6, close to the Birmingham NEC. If travelling by car follow the signs to the Birmingham NEC until you leave the motorway. Post code is B92 0EJ

There is ample free parking at the venue.

Trains and Planes: Birmingham International Airport, Railway Station and NEC are adjacent each other, approximately 1mile from the venue. Travel from which to the NCC is best achieved via taxi or bus as a pedestrian route is not available.
