CONFERENCE SITE VISITS, Friday 25th June:

Tour B

Craigmaddie Dam and Katrine Waterworks, owned and operated by Scottish Water it is the primary water source for the city of Glasgow, originating from Victorian times.  The more recently completed £120m water treatment project has provided Glasgow with a state of the art water supply.  During the major works the associated storage reservoirs were fully drained, the first time since original construction and which required special measures to be taken.  Historically, Craigmaddie dam suffered from a minor slip on the downstream face which resulted in remedial works.  The visit will include both the new water treatment works and the dam.
